My Leadership Philosophy

My own personal leadership philosophy that I stand by and truly believe in is,

"Take action to strive to do what you believe in that set examples others want to follow"

My leadership philosophy aligns with influencing and motivating others as a leader. I believe that leaders or those that set examples that others would want to follow. They don't wait for others to do things before them, but instead, they take action in things that they have a passion for. To me, a leader is someone who can energize and motivate others when they lose their ambitions, goals or passion. They have a will to make a change and are willing to take the initiate to act on their dreams and ideas. They are not afraid to stand alone in what they believe, even though everyone else thinks otherwise.

The first part of my leadership philosophy, "take action to strive to do what you believe in…" is how I perceive leaders, where they are not afraid to be who they want to be. They don't care that they are different than others who have a different viewpoint. These leaders are those that stand behind their beliefs and are not swayed by others. Successful leaders that can achieve and bring themselves to act on their ideas, will eventually attract others to follow their paths; hence, the ending part of my leadership philosophy, "… that set examples others want to follow".

I believe that everyone should hold himself or herself at a higher standard than anyone else will expect from them. They should never excuse or underestimate themselves in what they can or cannot do. If they already limit themselves by saying that, "it's not possible" or "I can't do that", they are restricting themselves from achieving things that are within their power. Having "will" and "drive" is sometimes strong enough to overcome obstacles and problems that stop you from reaching your goals.

Holding yourself at a higher standard will allow you to strive and aim for more than what you think you are capable of. This power of believing in yourself will influence others to follow your footsteps. Like the saying goes, you need to believe in yourself before others can believe in you.
